The bridal party struggled into Tangerine Dream, a lovely little salon in Great Falls. It was somewhat of an effort to get everyone looking polished and beautiful since we were still recovering from the Rehearsal dinner debauchery (I have never not wanted a mimosa so much in my entire life) but after some hair brushing, some hot rolling, some makeup dabbing, seventeen cans of hairspray, a few little muffins and some chamomile tea, even Sara Jane was feeling better and looking lovely
Practice makes perfect, and Sara Jane wouldn’t have her wedding be anything less than that, so we gathered at St Mark for the rehearsal and pretended to pay attention. We were really all focused more on the rehearsal dinner, a most enjoyable event at DC Coast. We drank, we sang, we stuck little pictures of Sara and Kevin on our foreheads. The wine kept coming (we lost track of how many glasses), Laura flirted with Father Mark, and a wonderful time was had by all…so they tell us…
Finally…we’re all getting into town for The Wedding Of The Year! As the excitement builds, we visit Sara and Kevin’s adorable apartment in McLean (with a stellar view of I-495 traffic), enjoy a lovely dinner at home with some Illinois family, and enjoy being together again
The Fishers Freedom Festival kicked off with a 5K Saturday morning, we spent some time on the phone chatting, and did some outdoor things this weekend (when the desperately-needed rain wasn’t dampening things). We’re starting to pack for our trip to Virginia. I think something might be going on next weekend…not sure what…
We finally had a few evenings to spend some quality time together, so we went to the pool (and brought a very trendy little sushi picnic), went for some walks, and did some hiking. Happy Father’s Day, all you dads!
Thank goodness we had such beautiful weather! We needed to spend some time hanging out outside (and Emily working Zoobilation on Friday night did. not. count.) We ate four meals in a row outside, hiked around Wishing Well Park on Sunday, and did some weird things with hair in between (including getting David’s hair cut in preparation for the wedding…)
Another busy, busy weekend full of homework (for Emily), fun outings, and the realization that we are no longer going to be spoiled by a child who sleeps until 9:30am on Saturdays… But do you notice there weren’t any pictures from Saturday night? That’s because Mommy and Daddy actually got to go see a movie at the movie theatre...and will probably never do that again because do you know how expensive movies are these days?! At any rate, Emily also dragged her boys to—not one, but two, craft fairs this weekend, and then rounded up Sunday afternoon with a visit to Conner Prairie Living History Museum…right up their alley, let me tell you. We did get to see lots of baby animals, enviable vegetable gardens, and some neat old tools (and Emily did a really good chicken impersonation). And there was popcorn. Can’t forget that.
Opening weekend for Oceans at the Zoo, a delightful and soul-nourishing walk in a park (in Real Nature) and several messes that were pretty fun to make…
We realize that we missed a week (again), but that’s just testament to how busy we’ve been the past two weeks. Summary: a surprise dinner and “Spamalot” for Nate’s 30th birthday, Emily attending the American Association of Museum conference for four days in Chicago (and realizing how many cool opportunities are out there), the men having a good time living the bachelor lifestyle (and still being so sweet and sending Mommy flowers at her hotel), and then enjoying one of the best weekends we’ve had in a really, really long time. Walks, a trip to the zoo, margaritas galore, and a lovely dinner al fresco…many thanks to my two wonderful men. Mommy loved her weekend
