Happy Mother's Day

After being away and working straight through last weekend, we earned some time doing nothing. So of course, we stayed busy this weekend, between the Broad Ripple Farmers Market, a bike ride/skate on the Monon Trail, movie night (homemade pizza and Shrek 2), another bike ride SUnday morning while Chris made Mother's Day breakfast, a hike in the woods (which David calls "camping" and thinks our main goal is to find deer...good luck), a lovely afternoon nap, and some awesome beef ribs, we still had very little checked off on our to-do lists by the time Sunday evening rolled around. And it was awesome
Someone decided to play peek-a-boo underneath the sandbox cover. Someone ended up looking pretty stinkin' cute
Waaaait... something's a little odd here
This is what a tortoise must feel like. Except not as cute
I know there are dozens of shots of David sitting at the table eating food, but this one is profund because he is eating Brussels sprouts, tofu, and organic brown rice. And when I say "eating it", I mean he ate all of it. Really
Chris was not quite so happy with the tofu, and even less happy with Emily's recent declaration that three or four nights a week would be vegetarian from now on (just as griling season arrives). Try as one might, it really just isn't possible to make tofu taste like steak
Ducks on a roof: funny every time
I'm not entirely sure what was happening here, but it involved a lot of energy and some funny-looking hair
Dressed in our Sunday finest, we enjoyed a lovely walk through and extraordinarily soggy Cheeney Creek Nature Preserve. Apaprently it didn't dawn on us that it would be quite so muddy, even though it had been raining for the past week
So a mushroom walks onto a tree branch and says, "Hey! I'm a fun-gi!"
You can only imagine how much fun it was getting feet this muddy
We gave up walking in the woods (we were too loud to find any deer, anyway) and decided to walk for a bit along the Nickel Plate railroad. We kept reassuring David that there were no trains on the tracks... until there was, in fact, a train on the track

We do brush his hair once in a while
We spotted a little chippy several yards ahead on the track, and this is what the telephoto lens will do for you
Then the chippy spotted us, and he ran away. Wise move
I'd make some reference to Andrew Jackson and carring a big stick, but there's the whole "walk softly" part of the saying, and that just doesn't apply here

We tried to move the switch on the tracks, but found that it was a) really old and rusty b) locked with a huge padlock and c) probably illegal to tamper with train switches
And lo and behold, about half a mile down the track (again, thank you awesome telephoto lens) there was the train, stopping at the Fishers Station. We're not sure what it was doing, but it may have been the "Pizza Train". We need to look into that
Next stop: some other neighborhood's playground
Not loving the lens so much right now. At least it isn't a "smello-photo"
David twirled so fast on the tire swing it made me want to throw up
He found getting out to be a bit tricky
Dude, everywhere he goes, the kid is stomping
Part of me wonders if it's a bad idea to teach him how to climb stuff like this. Next thing you know, we're going to find him on the top of our house with a towel tied around his neck like a cape, yelling at the top of his voice, "Hey, guys! Watch this, guys!"
Down he goes
And down he goes again
But then back up he goes
Gus, just on his back. He was a pretty happy boy today, and one tired puppy
Mommy opted to take the pictures of this one, knowing that if she tried to get inside, she'd get stuck and getting out really wouldn't be pretty
There are days when I want to put them both in a cage because they're driving me crazy. But most days, I'd much rather keep them close to me bcause I just love them so much
He was so totally busted, coming out of a yucky place he should not have gone into to begin with
It really is so very seldom that both of his feet are on the ground at the same time
Just savoring a side view of the very last of his little baby cheek chub
