Extending the Weekend

Though Emily had to depart on Sunday afternoon, Chris and David stayed in Austin until Tuesday. An Easter Egg hunt, trips to various parks, and some Play-doh kept them all busy (as well as a rubber band to the face), and again thank goodness for the many entertainment options at O'Hare airport. if you have to fly the horrifically unfriendly skies, at least you get to see some cool Legos and a dinosaur along the way.
Does it look like we had two drinks and lots of chips and salsa? What a gorgeous evening to spend on the deck at the Iguana Grill
Anne and Shane (with all their eyes open this time around)
Going one way down University Avenue (that's the University of Texas, Nana)
And going the other way
Dude totally rocked the Western Oaks annual Easter Egg Hunt
We're not sure if he also told this Easter Bunny that he was still hoping for blue Silly Putty
I know Alice was not at all excited to show off her grandson to the neighbors
Checking out his loot. And nice sticker on your ear, by the way
Some quiet, peaceful literary time with Grandma. And cheeeeeese
Hmm. Tattoos and rubber bands around the face, eh? Maybe next time we won't be so hasty in leaving David alone with his grandparents. I don't know what "playtime" was back in 1979, but this ain't up to code...
Surely this is not entirely helpful
Grandma made Play-Doh, and apparently it kept David entertained for two straight hours. Maybe that's because Grandma is far less of a Play-Doh Nazi and let him mix the colors. Mommy won't do that
This is just too cute! I didn't know they'd set up dinner for him in the middle of the living room, but he looks like he's enjoying the novelty
Looks like it's only slightly warmer than it was when we rode the train at Thanksgiving
This time around, there were no lights or Winnie the Pooh characters to see but there was a backhoe and a port-o-potty. Just as good
They really do give the impression that David actually sits through entire books
Nice jacket, Daddy. Apparently the digger keeps you warm
This certainly looks like trouble waiting to happen
Thanks to Papa, who replenished the sandbox with a truckload of sand (and almost got a ticket for it)
Dude, O'Hare rocks. Even though the light tunnel can't quite beat Detroit, they have way cooler toys at O'Hare
This is why Chicago deserves the Olympics. They give Lego diggers to traveling three-year-olds. If that's not thoughtfulness and hospitality, what is?
I'm not quite sure what Chris was trying to capture in this picture, but if you look in the background towards the right, you'll see that O'Hare also has a dinosaur in the terminal
You have no idea how much time we spent in this tunnel
And this, David Evan, is how a haht dahg is done.
